The Genius of America

Alexis de Tocqueville made a significant note of the influential role of religion in society. He wrote,
"Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the greatness and genius of America. America is good. And if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great."
Oh that we would see as clearly as Alexis did back in the mid 1800's that our greatness flows from our fear of a great and good God. It is by his grace that we are able to live as great and good citizens. I pray we'll humble ourselves and seek to be "salt and light" in our culture and beyond.
